What We Use & Make

R.A. Yancey Lumber Corp exclusively cuts southern yellow pine (SYP) sourcing most of our logs from Albemarle, Nelson, Buckingham, Amherst, and Fluvanna Counties in Virginia.

SYP is the strongest softwood structural lumber species. It is dense and well suited to the building market with its high load-bearing capacity and fastener holding ability.

R.A. Yancey Lumber Corp is one of the largest sawmills in Virginia and the northern most of SYP mills on the East Coast specializing in rough and finished SYP boards, dimensional lumber, and timbers.

While we sell lumber across the region from Georgia to New York to Illinois and points in between, most of our sales are to fellow Virginia businesses. The mill also sells its wood by-products, including bark, chips, shavings, and firewood.
